sc_serv – you read it many times, but do you gt it? Actually it’s very easy!
“sc” means SHOUTcast and “serv” is an abbreviation for server and if you combine them, you see, it’s all about the SHOUTcast Server versions. But why is it necessary to own a server?
With a SHOUTcast DSP Plugin, a radio host or Dj is able to be “onAir” with his ongoing music program. He or she has to choose an address of a server with a port, which has to be installed before.
Sc_serv represents the platform, a radio creator needs to be onAir. Depending on the size of the server it is possible to host just one or thousands of listeners. As a general rule you need to use a 100Mbit server to host your radio. With a bitrate of 128kbps you can only host about 700 listeners without having to load the stream again and again (you call it buffer).
